Changing your lifestyle, working on yourself and growing as a person starts not only with changing your attitude and mindset, but also learning healthy habits that make a real difference in your comfort level.

Starting and ending the day offline

One of the most important habits that can change life for the better is limiting phone use. This rule is especially crucial during the morning and just before going to sleep. Many people tend to start their day by browsing social media and end it by looking at something on their phone. Studies have shown that such habits have a negative impact on mood, can lead to strong emotions that make it difficult to fall asleep or calmly enter a new day, as well as impair vision. Interestingly, experts recommend an offline morning, which should last up to three hours. This is the time for the morning toilet, eating breakfast, working out or meditating. A similar recommendation applies to the time just before going to sleep. Using the phone during this time can stimulate the brain and make it difficult to fall asleep.

Writing down responsibilities, thoughts, plans, ideas

Another habit to try is to carry a notebook with you. An electronic version on your phone will also work. The general idea involves the habit of writing down all the things that pop into your head during the day. Most important duties, appointments, ideas, recipes, thoughts or plans for the future. Perhaps any of the notations will prove helpful and develop into a bigger idea. A note-taking system can also be helpful for people who have trouble organizing their time.

Systematic reading

Studies also show that it is a good habit to devote a minimum of 20 minutes each day to reading. This can be a book, magazine, newspaper or scientific articles. It is important to set aside time each day for this activity. Specialists stress that such regular reading improves brain function, helps maintain concentration and enriches vocabulary.

Training

A key habit that helps you stay healthy is also playing sports. It doesn’t have to be intense physical activity that includes going to the gym, swimming pool or running. A short workout at home is enough. Studies show that just a few minutes of physical activity helps oxygenate the brain, produce endorphins and improve the body’s overall physical condition.

Controlling your finances

A useful habit that helps you plan your expenses for the month, while saving money at the same time. Controlling finances should be done at the beginning of each month. It’s a good idea to write down your most important payments, such as rent, utilities, insurance or installments. Then allocate a specific portion of money for entertainment and savings. In this way, the household budget will be accounted for each month, and savings will steadily increase.

Keeping a diary

This habit is not for everyone, but it can be very useful on a daily basis. Keeping a diary helps to organize the events and thoughts of the day. Moreover, it also provides a collection of our thoughts, which can be very useful in more difficult moments. Describing our own experiences can help us understand ourselves, as well as facilitate work on self-development.
