Loneliness is most often faced by young people. This condition is made even worse by the prevailing pandemic. Fortunately, there are ways to overcome loneliness
Lonely people have trouble opening up to new acquaintances. Often the problem is a lack of trust that persists after a relationship ends, for example. Such people do not want to trust a new person they have met, and they keep their insecurities and regrets inside. They want to live in solitude, but this is not a good solution. Lack of involvement in new acquaintances makes the state of loneliness constantly deepen. On the one hand, they feel the lack of a close relationship, but on the other hand, they fear it. Such emotional blockade affects future relationships, which results in moving away from potential partners.
Before starting a new relationship, you should change your attitude and forget about the past. If you feel lonely and do not want your life to pass in the absence of your loved one, you need to take a risk. Not every new partner you meet is a potential threat to you. You may have some resentment left over from unpleasant past experiences, but don’t close yourself off to new acquaintances. Give yourself time to talk and get to know each other better. In return, you can receive a really valuable friendship and create prospects for new relationships and connections in the future. This will help build your self-confidence
To make your life fuller, it’s also a good idea to have your own passions to fill your free time. You don’t have to look far. Just find a sports club in your area, start going for walks, or explore your neighborhood. If you spend your evenings alone at home, you can also find interesting hobbies that you will also develop without going out. Many people start learning a language and meet new people, even from other continents. There are many websites that offer courses with native speakers. Also, smartphone apps allow you to chat with many people in the language of your choice.
Loneliness can be very debilitating. A lonely person locks themselves inside their four walls and doesn’t seek help because they don’t see the need for it. Long-term loneliness takes a toll on the psyche and self-esteem. Try to use the time spent alone to make plans for the future and take a break from everyday life. Do something you enjoy – read a book or watch a TV series. Think about how you see yourself in one or two years. It’s worth dreaming and having a plan for the future. This gives you hope for a better tomorrow and strength to fight against adversity.
Sometimes loneliness can give you some positives. You get to focus on yourself and your passions. Being in a relationship also has many pluses, but temporarily being single allows you to pursue those interests that you previously had less time for. Focusing on yourself, your needs, and your problems is good for your well-being. You look at dilemmas and problems from a different perspective and can see more than before. Thanks to solitary moments, you are able to find solutions faster to situations that previously seemed unimaginably complicated and difficult.
Remember that loneliness is a temporary state. Before you know it, someone will appear on your path who will bring a smile to your face. Just be open to new acquaintances.
